1. What are the benefits of being part of an EAL class?
Students benefit from working in small groups, receiving one to one attention from the teacher. They have more opportunity to express themselves in a safe and comfortable environment.
2. How often do they attend EAL classes?
All students have daily lessons tailored to their needs.
3. How long does it take to learn a second language?
Research into second language acquisition has estimated that it takes five to seven years for an EAL student to catch up with his/her native English speaking peers as far as academic language is concerned.
4. How do I know what my child is doing in the EAL classroom?
Parents are invited to an Open House early in the school year. Two parent/teacher conferences are arranged, the dates of which are on the school calendar. Parents are welcome to make an appointment with the student’s EAL teacher at any time
