Welcome to our Website!

The International School Hamburg is a non-denominational international school which is open to all nationalities, and where the language of instruction is English. Our student body currently comprises 70% international students and 30% German students. And our teaching body is also truly international, with many coming from Europe, but also from the USA, Australia and New Zealand. This mix provides for exciting learning opportunities within both, international and local contexts.

At ISH, we believe in the holistic development of our students, in line with the IB Learner Profile. We seek to develop not only academically strong, but also ethically and morally sound, technologically savvy, caring and internationally-minded individuals who are able to communicate effectively in various cultural settings, who are creative, agile and adaptable, and who understand themselves as being life-long learners.

Our teaching programmes are truly international. In the younger years, from P1, as the group of our three-year olds are called, up to grade 5, we teach the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). In Middle School, we have developed our own specialized international curriculum, in grades 9 and 10 we follow a pre-IB programme, and in the final two years, grades 11 and 12, we have adopted the Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBDP). Since some of our students are not native speakers of English, we provide special learning opportunities for them within our extensive EAL programme. We also offer a wide range and variety of after-school activities so that our students can develop and intensify their passion and skills in multiple areas of their choice.

I would now like to invite you to surf our website, and I hope you will find the information you desire. I also hope to be able to personally welcome you at our school soon.
