The International School Hamburg is a registered not-for-profit association and has the status for tax purposes of a state-recognised supplementary school. It is represented under the law by its Board of Directors.
The Board is elected by the members of the Association. The Board is responsible for the determination of the policies of the School and for the conduct of its financial affairs. The Board also appoints the Headmaster who administers the affairs of the School within the limits of approved policies.
ISH is a member of the European Council of International School, the North-West European Council of International Schools, the Association of German International Schools, and the International Baccalaureate Organisation. Through these four organisations ISH is affiliated with over 600 international schools worldwide.
