ISH's Model United Nations students do us proud at MUNISS 2022 Conference in Stuttgart
Having learnt about MUN, how to write position papers and how to draft resolutions, our ISH delegation came well prepared and knowledgeable about their topic which allowed them to take fully part in the three-day conference committee debates.
Topics such as "Addressing declining birth rates, and therefore high elderly populations in many MEDCs", "The role and effectiveness of international law in settling territorial disputes", and "Discussing how to improve women’s role in leadership and politics" were thoroughly discussed, and draft resolutions well-defended and debated.
Congratulations to two of our students who received the coveted Best Delegate awards for their debating skills and knowledge of their country’s position and five other ISH delegates formally recognised during the closing ceremony for their exceptional performances. Looking forward to MUNISS 2023.
What is MUN ECAP?
International School of Hamburg’s Model United Nations (MUN) is offered as an extra-curricula ECAP activity. It focuses on the key skills of debate, formal resolution writing, public speaking and individual research. With the MUN experience students grow in confidence, learn to be independent, critical thinkers and get the opportunity to work closely with students from across the globe. The culminating activity for this program is the opportunity for students to attend a MUN conference and debate international issues with delegates from other schools. This activity is also approved for IB students looking to meet their CAS requirements in the Diploma Programme and MYP students looking to meet their Service requirements.
