Casimir joins st. Pauli professional youth team.
October 15th, 2018
From musicians, sports stars to publishers, ISH has plenty of stories about our students. This time we feature Casimir, Grade 10, an upcoming football professional. Casimir started off with participating in our NECIS sports events and has had interest in football since he was nine years old. Now he has gone on to join the Under 16 youth team of FC St. Pauli in Hamburg. St. Pauli is currently playing in the 2. Bundesliga, the second division of professional football in Germany.
Casimir is very excited and committed to be in this team. The idea of playing high-level football and the discipline that goes into professional sports is what drives him to give it his absolute best. He says it can be a bit stressful but he has a lot of support from his family, teachers, friends and of course, his coach. Inspired by his uncle, Casimir says that football really is in his family. They are all very passionate about the game. His favourite footballer is Marco Reus, a professional player for Borussia Dortmund.
He trains five times in a week, which includes one competitive weekend game. This doesn't leave much time for his other interests of painting, reading sport autobiographies, listening to music and hanging out with friends but for one who lives and breaths football, his only requirement is to do well academically.
Casimir plays as a left-back defender and his obvious goal is to play professionally. He is determined, focused and he believes he will.
Congratulations, Casimir and well done!
