Bio Justine Glanfield – Costume Designer

Originally from Great Britain, Justine Glanfield is an accomplished fashion designer with a career spanning three decades. Specialising in knitwear, she has worked with international brands including Burberry and Lacoste, and most recently served as Head of Design and Senior Knitwear Designer at the German fashion label Closed.

Based in Brussels, Justine also curates The Knit Archive, a collection of vintage knitwear that provides inspiration for contemporary fashion design. Her work reflects a longstanding interest in craftsmanship, natural fibres and sustainable design.

Justine first brought her creative vision to the International School of Hamburg with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by ALICE, for which she created a wonderfully eccentric wardrobe inspired by the surreal world of Lewis Carroll. Working alongside a dedicated team of parent volunteers, she transformed second-hand garments, discarded textiles and recycled materials into imaginative costumes, demonstrating how sustainability and theatrical creativity can go hand in hand.

Now an ISH alumni parent and based in Brussels, Justine continues her involvement with the school’s theatre productions as costume designer for Romeo & Juliet. Her return reflects both her enduring connection to the ISH community and her commitment to the creative collaboration that brings these productions to life."
