Leadership

Established in 1957 as a registered non-profit organisation, the International School of Hamburg is the oldest international school in Germany.
Our long history of success is underpinned by decades of continuity of governance and leadership.
Our organisation's governance structure, our tradition of a strong relationship between the Board of Trustees and the Head of School, as well as regularly gathering feedback from all our stakeholders have ensured unity and resilience in the face of challenges.

The International School is operated independently by the Internationale Schule Hamburg e.V., a registered not-for-profit association. The members of the Association elect the Board, which is responsible for the determination of ISH’s policies and for the conduct of its financial affairs. The Association elects half of the members of the Board, for a period of two years, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is held at the end of November or beginning of December. The parents of students currently attending the school elect the Parent Members of the Board. The Staff Member is elected by his/her colleagues. Non-Parent Members of the Board are elected by the Non-Parent members of the Association, i.e. interested individuals who do not have children attending ISH. If you are not a Parent of a student currently at ISH or a member of Staff and would like to join our Association, please contact the Board outlining your interests and motivations. | |||

The International School is operated independently by the Internationale Schule Hamburg e.V., a registered non-profit association. It is governed by its Board of Trustees. The Board is entrusted with the sustainability of the school and is responsible for setting the school's strategy. The Board is also the guardian of the school's mission and vision. This includes holding the school to account for delivering on all aspects of these guiding statements, verifying that the school operates on a sound financial basis, and taking all necessary steps to ensure the long-term success of the school. The Parent, Non-Parent and Staff Members of the Board are typically accomplished personalities from various backgrounds such as business, academics and diplomacy. As a result, ISH can rely on valuable expertise from these areas in making its strategic decisions. Our Board of Trustees Board Chairperson - Tatiana Ramirez |
